Two suspected robbers were killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Bhawal National Park in Gazipur on early Monday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.

Tipped off that a group of robbers are planning to commit a robbery in the area, law enforcers went there to conduct a drive there this morning, said Lt Commander Abdullah Al Mamun, Company Commander of RAB-1 in Gazipur .

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the criminals opened fire on law enforcers, forcing them to take action in self defence, he said.

After the gunfight, RAB recovered the bullet hit bodies and sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsies, he added.

A RAB member was also injured in the gunfight, claimed Abdullah Al Mamun adding that they recovered a foreign pistol, a shooter gun and bullets from the spot.
